EiC's Responsibilities
The Editor-in-Chief (EIC) is the head of the journal who is a highly experienced scientist and researcher with a broader vision within the discipline of the fields covered in the journal.
The EIC is responsible for:
- defining the aims and scope of the journal;
- adjusting the mission of the journal according to the changing needs of the readership;
- ensuring the publications are within the defined scope of the journal;
- ensuring the scientific quality of the publications;
- leading the journal to publish two issues annually;
- reviewing the editorial process of the accepted manuscripts and making a final recommendation whether or not a manuscript can be published after the peer-review process;
- suggesting topics for Special Issues;
- acting as an ambassador for the journal;
- promoting the journal and increasing its reputation and visibility;
- developing and supporting strategies for increasing submissions and readership; and
- handling allegations and findings of scientific misbehavior and misconduct.
The Editor-in-Chief position is honorary. As a reward for their endeavors, the EIC can publish their papers free of charge in any of our open access journals. The initial term for the Editor-in-Chief position is two years and can be renewed.
