Proposing a Special Issue

If you are interested in launching and publishing a special issue in the International Journal of Equine Science as a Lead Editor, it is important to consider the following details:

Selecting the Scope

When determining the scope of your special issue, ensure that it is:

  • close to your research interests;
  • of growing interest within your field;
  • within the scope of the International Journal of Equine Science; and
  • broad enough to attract a reasonable number of submissions while remaining narrow enough to create a special collection of articles.

Once you determine the scope of the special issue, you can submit your proposal.

Proposal for a Special Issue

The proposal should include:

  • a brief and descriptive title for your special issue;
  • a concise overview of the special issue;
  • aims and scope of the special issue;
  • a list of topics that you expect to receive submissions on; and
  • details of the researchers willing to serve as Guest Editors, including their names and affiliations.

Editorial Team Formation

A single Lead Guest Editor and a team of 2-4 Guest Editors lead special issues. The Special Issue Guest Editors are the key factor in the success of a Special Issue. They are responsible for:

  • Handling the peer review process of submitted manuscripts
  • Making final recommendations on submitted manuscripts
  • Promoting the Special Issue among their networks

Guest Editors should:

  • have a strong publication record within the scope of the proposed topic;
  • located in various countries and institutions which allows a wider audience and distribution;
  • be enthusiastic about promoting the special issue to solicit submissions; and
  • have enough time to devote to handling manuscripts throughout the Special Issue.

In cases where nominated Guest Editors fall short of requirements, replacements may be sought.

Your special issue proposal will undergo evaluation by the journal's Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board. Upon acceptance, a Call for Papers will be issued and circulated to interested researchers.

Kindly submit your proposal to ijes@rasayely-journals.com.
