IJES Announces Official Partnership with Horses Inside Out (HIO)

The International Journal of Equine Science (IJES) is proud to announce an official academic partnership with Horses Inside Out (HIO), an internationally recognized leader in equine education dedicated to incorporating a solid understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and locomotion with recent scientific developments and practical equestrian management. Founded by Gillian Higgins in 2006, HIO brings together world-leading equestrian professionals, researchers, and practitioners to deliver evidence-based education through conferences, seminars, and academy resources.

Through this collaboration, IJES and Horses Inside Out aim to bridge anatomical and biomechanical research with practical field care and training, supporting open-access publishing and providing direct avenues for researchers, educators, and equine professionals.

Supporting the HIO Community and 2027 CPD Conference

As part of our Institutional & Society Partnership Program, IJES is delighted to support HIO conference participants and researchers through our zero-cost, non-exclusive partnership framework:

  • Annual Best Presentation / Poster Award Waiver: One full (100%) Article Processing Charge (APC) waiver annually for the winning poster or presentation selected at the HIO Conference.

  • Runner-up APC Discounts: A 50% APC discount for up to ten (10) runner-up presenters or selected poster contributors upon manuscript submission and peer-review acceptance.

  • Dedicated Special Collections: Collaborative opportunities to host Guest-Edited Special Issues or Feature Collections centered around major HIO conference themes.
